And….. the shutdown is over. I’m left wondering if Democrats sang some DJ Khaled to celebrate.
For those of you who want to know exactly the timeline of what happened during the shutdown, the NYTimes published a nice timeline. Or if you’re like me, you can see exactly which senators voted against the bill to reopen the government. I couldn’t find the House list, so that’s why it’s not here, but NO democrats voted against the bill compared to 144 House republicans. I hope that the least of what comes out of this government shutdown, is that constituents will boot these politicians out of office. I can’t stress it enough, your voice is your vote. For NYC residents, you can register to vote ONLINE! Get on that. Especially, Asian Americans who make up 13% of NYC, yet so little of us voted during the primaries that our opinion was deemed negligible.
& to end that note, Cory Booker from New Jersey wins the Senate race.
Can you imagine ROBOT BARISTAS? I liked this article that proclaims buying coffee will eventually become like buying bread.
Last month, the Dominican Republic court ruled to deny citizenship to Haitians born in the Dominican Republic. “The September 23 court ruling retroactively denies Dominican nationality to anyone born after 1929 who does not have at least one parent of Dominican blood, under a constitutional clause declaring all others to be either in the country illegally or “in transit.” I really have no words to express how despicable this ruling is. There will be a protest in Manhattan in front of the Dominican Republic consulate this week.
The weekend is almost here. Hurray!
Cheers to you all,
